A Family fall photo session
I posted my most recent fall landscapes and immediately followed up with one of the dreamiest fall photoshoots I’ve ever done!
I met Carolyn and her daughter at a women’s event several months ago and we got to bond over our babies and our experiences with moving to New England. That evening has led to a sweet friendship that I have cherished this last year as we’ve attended birthday parties and holiday activities together.
When it came up that I work as a photographer, she jumped at booking a fall photoshoot for her family, which is truly one of the best times to do photos in Massachusetts.
Roadside Pit Stop
I shared several location options for their session and we agreed on shooting at Coggshall Park in Fitchburg, MA. When I scouted out spots, I knew I wanted to make a roadside stop.
Our original date ended up being a chilly, rainy day that gave off major PNW/Scotland vibes, which definitely has its charms, but not quite what Carolyn envisioned for their family photos. And when I tell y’all I have never been happier for crappy weather in my life! The ten days from our original date to the reschedule made a HUGE difference in the colors.
From the moment we stepped out of our cars to when we finally said our goodbyes, we could not stop gushing over how gorgeous the leaves were and what a perfect fall day it turned out to be.
Geese Guests
I love shooting at Coggshall due to the variety of landscapes, ample parking, and that there’s a playground for rambunctious kids. The geese though, those might have made me a little nervous…
Coggshall Park just happens to be one of the first local parks I got to experience when we moved to the area two years ago. My Aunt Julie, who so graciously hosted us for a few nights while we were house hunting, gave me the scoop and it has become one of our favorite parks to frequent. The loop around the water is gorgeous and even though you certainly couldn’t take a stroller around the entire path, we were able to easily enjoy parts of the playground area and the walking path.
The park, according to the city of Fitchburg Recreation Department, spans over 250 acres and operates mainly as a passive recreation area which is managed by the Friends of Coggshall Park. The park has entered their winter hours phase (opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 3:45 p.m.) through the beginning of March, but you can bet we’ll try to squeeze in some winter visits as well – and maybe I’ll do a snowy photoshoot too, hand warmers in tow.
